This afternoon we drove north from Lake Louise to Jasper National Park.
You know that you’re in for a treat when the highway has a name. This one is called the Icefields Parkway aka Hwy 93. It’s a two lane road with huge mountains along the west side. Too bad our weather was cloudy with scattered flurries so we didn’t get to see the mountain peaks 😦
Here are a few of the shots taken out the window. And trust me, these don’t do justice.
A typical scene.
Meandering river.
Parker Ridge. Yes, we just drove up that hill. Really wasn’t a big deal.
That’s a glacier in the middle. And it’s near the Icefield Centre where there were a ton of tour buses. Yikes!
Check out that uplift!! Plate tectonics have always fascinated me.
For the nine months that we’ve been on the road, we’ve seen very little wildlife. To a point that I’m really surprised. But today we saw mountain goats on three occasions and caribou. You just know that these furry guys know how to stay worm.
Here’s to more wildlife sitings 🙂
